Mandatory National Code Changes Affecting Builders and Plans

September 15, 2002

As you may already be aware, some states have accepted the 2000 International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The IRC is currently being enforced in some jurisdictions, while many others are in the process of adopting the new codes. Compliance with IECC is required by the State of Texas as of September 9, 2002. We anticipate other states to require the new codes if they have not already. These codes represent a combination of existing codes with modifications that may affect your specifications as well as some architectural items (i.e. framing, energy efficiency, electrical notes and other construction document information) that Kipp Flores will include on all new and existing plans. As jurisdictions define their local codes, additional changes may be expected.
